World Arabic Day Celebration

UN Arabic Language Day is observed annually on December 18. The event was established by the UN Educational, Scientific and CulturaOrganization (UNESCO) in 2010 seeking "to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six of its official working languages throughout the organization". December 18 was chosen as the date for the Arabic language as it is "the day in 1973 when the General Assembly approved Arabic as an official UN language".

World Arabic Day was celebrated on December 13, 2022 at GHSS, Kamaleshwaram as December 18, the students had their christmas examinations. The assembly was conducted in Arabic language by the children who had taken second language as Arabic. Rashid Sir, gave a speech about the importance of Arabic language across the globe.

Exam Duty Filing of Papers

December started off with exm tensions, duties and a rush to finish the balance portions and conducting revision classes. Though exam duties were at times boring and even hectic, it was totally entertaining. I was able to understand the feeling of a teacher getting to enjoy examinations with no fear and anxiety. It was a wholesome experience.

Manacaud School Youth Festival

Myself and Remya got duty on November 16 at Manacaud School as aprt of the school youth festival. We had to take some boys who were participating for events like light music, arabipaatu etc. We had lunch from the school and got to meet our classmates who were student teachers during the first phase teaching practice. It was really endearing to meet all of them.

Kerala Day & Say NO to Drug Campaign

November 1 Kerala Day, we wore Kerala saree to school. Afternoon, we did not have classes. All of us went to East Fort in the school bus to attend the Say NO to Drug Campaign. It was a tiring as well as a unique experience to stand in the middle of the road amongst different pupils and teachers from various schools.

The Kerala government on October 6 launched a "No To Drugs" awareness campaign with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan saying that the objective of the drive is to make the state free of destructive contrabands. Urging people from all walks of life to join the drive, the CM said not even a second can be wasted in the fight against the deadly substance as the terrible danger it causes in the society was beyond description.

First Day of Teaching practice

The first day of teaching practice started off with jitters and ended on a good note better than what I had expected. The key is Less EXPECTATIONS always turns out to be WONDERFUL and the BEST. Honestly speaking the new surroundings were a bit overwhelming but overall it was okay to start with. The teachers were supportive and that was something which kept me calm and gave hope

Unfortunately I did not get my English class in the 9th STD, as a seminar/discussion on the topic 'Mental Health and Physical Health in Adolescents' was conducted for the high school students by the Women Cell from Chalai School. We were told to sit in the staffroom which was of course nerve wrecking as you need to behave and be at your best in front of your superiors. keeping aside the anxieties and tensions, it was a wonderful day.

First Phase Teaching Practice

As part of the B.Ed Curriculum I got Government Higher Secondary School GHSS Kamaleshwaram for my first phase teaching practice. We were a team of four teacher trainees- Myself and Praveena from English optional; Remya and Reshma from Social Science optional. We were told to go and meet the HM and the teacher in charge on October 17 which we did. We got to know that  there was no permanent English teacher and the subject was handled by other subject teachers. I got the required lessons from Dhanya teacher for Class 9. I prepared lesson plans for teaching the pupils from next week. It was a huge task in itself yet I was prepared as one had to go through it and get over it eventually. There was no escape as you have signed into it. So despite the nervousness and anxiety about the unknown, I relied on God's power to help me through the storm.

Flipbook on A Prayer in Spring

I made a flipbook on the poem 'A Prayer in Spring' by Robert Frost. I had already prepared the ppt for my criticism class and hence it was easy to compile th rest of it and convert it into a flipbook.

Flipbooks are currently used to replace conventional digital PDFs and paper-based documents such as reports, presentations, magazines, catalogs, brochures, books and more. A digital flipbook looks and feels exactly like a printed publication with pages that can be flipped and turned - without the cost of printing!

Video-Scripting

Our English optional has a total of 11 students. We took lots so as to divide into two groups. My group comprised of 5 members- Myself, Jyotsna, Shipa, Zainab and Aardra. We discussed the theme of the video-script and wrote the script during onam holidays. There were 5 scenes in the play. We shot the video at Shilpa's house. The laughter, the number of cuts/retakes, incident of the dog, etc and  our very own dear characters Barbara Thompson, Maya Vinodhini will be hilariously remmbered, A special thanks to our dearest Shilpa for editing the video into a remarkable one and for the yummy lunch. A moment of gratitude to Aardra for doing my make-up, Jyo for mentally prompting me to act as the author and Zainu for rehearsing with me endlessly despite being sick.  It was a memorable day which will forever cherished.

The main highlight of the day was of course our Mahabali and our teachers Thiruvathira Performance. Later we had dance and song performances on Onam. Then we had sadya after which there was a Vadamvali competition  between the seniors and juniors. We juniors won. The entire day turned out to be superb.

Independence Day

We celebrated Independence Day on August 15. There was a formal flag hoisting ceremony and then a presentation by Remya of Social Science optional. Then we had patriotic songs and other events which I missed out as I needed to change into a saree. Our English optional together performed a fancy dress programme related to the Independence Day. I got to dress up as the iconic woman Prime Minister of India Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi. It was a really memorable day.

Field Trip to Vellanad Psychopark

We went on a field trip on August 12 to the Psycho park at Vellanad. I had already searched for reviews in youtube which was pretty much favourable. It was a one-day trip. We started off late, was hungry and became more tired due to the hot weather. When we reached the centre, we were directly taken for the introductory session and the next session followed. Only then we were allowed a break. The entire trip was tiring due to the extreme weather and also since we had to stand for a longer periods listening to the whole lectures on psychology. After a point, the classes were boring and I just needed to reach home. We had a question/answer session with Sir which was informative and wonderful than the earlier sessions. It was late than the said time, when we finally reached home. Reflecting on the trip, it was more of a study tour than a trip for enjoyment. But the memories which were clicked onto these photographs will always be truly special and memorable. #Trip

Later we had a presentation on Yoga by Archana Mohan of Natural Science optional, Then we all did a bit of a stretching and Surya Namaskar cycle two times each. It was a wonderful experience, but personally I was careful not to exert myself as was still recovering from viral fever. #YogaDay #InternationalYogaDay #2022

College Union & Arts Club Inauguration

Our College Union and Arts Club inauguration was held on 17 June 2022. Parvathi from English optional was elected as the College Chairman and Jyotsna also from English optional was elected as the Vice-Chairperson along with the college union, teachers and students conducted the programs together.

After lunch, we had our cultural performance. It was a fun day totally, excluding my tiredness after viral fever and the anxiety of doing a dance number especially with having two left feet. Later we took photographs with our friends which is the most important aspect for me during an event.

Environment Day

World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year. But we conducted the environment day celebrations on June 4, Saturday as June 5 was on a Sunday. Speeches and poems on the need to protect our environment was held as part of the formal function. Later we all played a game which was to find the hidden objects. The whole set of juniors were grouped into teams with the teachers also forming a team together. We had to follow the rules on the notes which were hidden which would eventually lead us to the main object. It was tiring and the teachers were much more energetic than us. Later we all planted saplings which was obviously the main agenda for the day. Trees are the source of life which constitute the whole of our Environment which needs to be preserved for our future generation.

Capacity Building Program

As part of the Capacity Building Program, our English optional conducted a group based folk song. It was a completely varied experience. Keeping aside our differences  and somewhat accepting the other as different we came to know each other on a much more deeper level than before. We bonded together, began to adjust with each other and some what accepted the others for who they really are (atleast for the timebeing😊 Yet there is much more to unravel which would indeed take a lifetime.

SUPW- Socially Useful Productive Work

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, we made paper bags, notebooks and files. It was easy to make paper bags, but the most difficult one was the making of the file. We all helped each other and some how managed to complete the task. Cooperation in group setting can really create wonders.

Digital Poster as part of Subject association activity

#poster #NationalgirlChildDay #digitalposter

As part of the subject association activity, we had to make individual digital posters on National Girl Child Day. Mine was a simple one with the main emphasis on the girl. The captivating look of the girl just cannot be ignored, as there is something intense in her eyes which should be valued as it is a sign of her inner confidence.
